Learn to pan for Gold from the expert Mother Load Gold Hounds. These great folks come to teach kids the techniques for successful Gold Panning. It was a tough way to make a living and only a few got rich.

For the Kids there are many activities. They will be  listed in the program. Check the schedule so they will not miss any of them.

Acorn Processing

with Carolyn Jones-Rodgers.  Kids can learn about the historical importance of acorns  for the local native people and try  grinding them to get the resulting flour. See for yourself to how much work it was to prepare this staple food which sustained for the local native people through much of the year.

Stop by the SCRFI booth and paint or color our picture of the day. Prizes will be awarded to the best ones in diferent age groups..​

We have prepared a special treasure hunt where children can hunt for gold nuggets and then keep them in their poke or trade them in at the Assay Office to learn how expensive food and necssities were back in the gold rush days.
